You are in the heart of Elsass

With us, you’ll be close to everything: Strasbourg to the north (30 minutes) with its Cathedral, its old town, its riverbanks, and its Christmas market; picturesque Colmar to the south (35 minutes) with its Little Venice; Obernai and its ramparts to the west (25 minutes); and Germany to the east (crossing the Rhine via the Rhinau Ferry, 20-25 minutes).
Benfeld (5 minutes, but also accessible by bike) provides access to doctors, shops and supermarkets, restaurants, a market, a cinema, and a media library (see details below).

For tastings of local wines and cellar tours, the start of the wine route (Molsheim) is 30 minutes away or can be reached in less than 20 minutes via Dambach-la-Ville. Medieval Ribeauvillé, with its festive activities and casino, is 25 minutes away, and Kayersberg, the French people’s favorite village in 2017 with its adorable traditional houses and old castle, is 35 minutes away.

If you are interested in history, you can take the Alsace castle route! There are many, but the most famous is undoubtedly the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle, just 20 minutes from us. The Alsace Ecomuseum in Ungersheim (an open-air museum where authentic Alsatian buildings have been reassembled, forming a living village) is just under an hour away, as is the very moving Struthof concentration camp (approx. 50 minutes away). The famous automobile museum is in Mulhouse, 50 minutes away, while the very unique Voodoo Museum is in Strasbourg, 30 minutes away.

If you like amusement parks: the world-famous and multi-award-winning Europa-Park is 30-35 minutes from us (via the free Rhine ferry). For little ones, Cigoland is 20 minutes away.

Do you prefer animals and nature? Monkey Mountain and the Eagle Aviary are 20 minutes away, NaturOparc (storks, Alsatian hamsters, waterfowl, otters, etc.) and the Butterfly Conservatory are 45 minutes away, and the Mulhouse Zoological and Botanical Garden is 50 meters away. If you prefer wild nature, the “Ill*Wald” nature reserve (classified as one of the 5 largest regional nature reserves in France, covering 1,855 hectares) is 25 minutes from us!

Do you like the mountains? The Champ du Feu ski resort is 50 minutes away or a little further to go a little higher to the Lac Blanc ski resort (1 hour 10 minutes). Many hikes (including some short and easy ones, possible to do with children) are accessible from different starting points around 35-40 minutes from Rossfeld: e.g. reach Mont Sainte-Odile, a high spiritual place in Alsace located at an altitude of 763m, through the woods on the pilgrims’ path (from Ottrott-le-Haut, follow the shell of Saint-Jacques de Compostelle embedded in the ground), ), ok from 7-8 years old.
